Girl in a Bed

from Slopey by Hugh Doolan

about

There was a girl sick in her bed, in a hospital; she was about my own age, beautiful and charming. I was in her room to hang curtains. I didn't know what she was in for. We had a great chat. I wrote a song about it...

lyrics

A girl in a bed so pretty
Lying there and I'm lifted
But we're in a hospital
She told me she was getting better
That doesn't matter
She whispered in my ear
But I did not hear her
Until she left
And had gone home
It was too late for realizing
Just doing a job on my time

She offered me a sweet
A girl in a bed so pretty
I could be forgiven

Could have been someone
Who fell for that flashing smile
Losing visiting hours
For glazing the doctors glasses
With wind-a-smile

A girl in a bed so pretty.
Lying there and I'm lifted
Hey where do you live?
Wouldn't say, then I knew
It was the end of the rainbow
It was too late for realising
Just doing a job on my time

A girl in a bed so pretty
Lying there and I'm lifted
Hey where do you live?
Wouldn't say then I knew
It was the end of the rainbow
It was too late for realising
Just doing a job on my time

She offered me a sweet
A girl lying under these sheets
I could be forgiven . .
